Horticulture
is one of the major activities of SFCI in addition to
production seed of vegetable crops. The horticultural
activities are mainly of two categories i.e. establishment and
maintenance of commercial orchards of fruit crops
and production of quality saplings of horticulture crops. An
area of 500 hectare is under fruit crops, which consists of
about 15 important crops. The orchards of fruits include
sub-tropical crops depending on the location of the Farm. Area
under fruit crops is as under.

Apart from maintenance of commercial Orchards,
quality-planting material of improved varieties suitable for
different agro-climatic condition are being propagated in
lakhs from the Mother blocks established at each
farm.
Production of foundation and certified seed of
vegetable crops is another important activity where the
Corporation handles as much as 30 improved varieties of
vegetable crops including Potato seed
production
SFCI has also taken a step forward in the field of Bio-fuel prefix = st1 ns =
Plantation and large scale plantation of Jatropha has been organized at SFCI farms
to cater the demand of quality planting material and
bio-fuel demand
Apart from the above, Medicinal Plant Cultivation has also
been started for demonstration and diversification.
Under Farm-forestry, about 5 Lakhs forest trees have also being
maintained and planting of trees is being done every
year.
